CA Final Exam 2023: Form, Syllabus & Pattern

The CA Final Exam marks the end of years of dedicated study and practical training for aspiring chartered accountants. The CA Final tests the student’s knowledge of accounting, auditing, taxation, financial management, corporate law, and other subjects. About The ICAI Final Paper Pattern

As per the 2023 CA Final exam pattern of ICAI CA Final exams, each paper of 8 contains 100 marks for an examination totalling 800. Students need 40 marks on each paper in total (400 in total) to pass. No negative marking will apply when incorrect answers are given in either section of the CA Final.

Students taking ICAI Final examinations can expect both objective and subjective questions in their exams, which take place offline with pen and paper-based questions for 3 hours total duration.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants provides an exam pattern tailored to individual subjects of its CA final-level certification exam: Papers 3, 4, 7 and 8 have a 30:70 assessment method; while Paper 6 follows an open-book exam format. All other papers follow regular patterns.

By 30:70 assessment, we mean that the paper will have 30 marks MCQ in the first part and the 2nd part has a descriptive part. 

CA Final Marking Scheme & Passing Criteria

Based on the new ICAI exam pattern, passing criteria and marking scheme are as follows.-

  • Under the ICAI Final Exam 2023’s revised format, each paper in each exam will carry up to 100 marks each 
  • Candidates must score at least 40% marks in every subject and aggregate 50% for clearing each group
  • No negative marking will take place.
  • Students who score over sixty per cent marks in anger papers can get an exemption in exams.

CA Final Syllabus

The ICAI is responsible for releasing the CA Final exam syllabus. As the ICAI slightly altered their syllabus for CA Final exams 2023, students should adhere to the revised CA Final syllabus 2023 for exams. Students can check the revised syllabus and suthe ts via the BoS Knowledge portal.

ICAI Final Exam Form

The CA Final exam form for November 2023 could become available starting September. ICAI will notify you of the deadline to fill and submit the exam form with a late fee of Rs 600 for Indian students or $10 for international ones.
